This looks like another case where they removed the roof membrane and insulation before starting the structural demo. It's most clear at 8:05 where you see the gravel sliding off the metal panels with nothing under the gravel. There are fragments of the membrane still on the parapet. You can see the difference at 36:55, where they didn't remove anything under the floor tiles of the roof deck. It must be worthwhile to keep all that out of the debris from the structural demo.
The operator of the machine is an artist with how they use that machine. Impressive.
I've always been interested in demolition, but couldn't do it as a job due to a disability. I really enjoy watching these videos that excuvator is a amazing bit of kit, the fact they can cut through metal beams like a hot knife going through butter is incredible. Thanks for sharing these videos. Watching from the UK

Why spray water?
The town and county require a water spray to reduce the dust, maybe they don't specify where the water should be sprayed.

Great
I have just finished watching part 8. I watched part 7 yesterday. Your videos are amazing and this one had me hooked from start to finish especially this episode. I love the way you give us a feel for all the work that goes on e.g. the segregating of all the material. The minions at work clearing the debris while the big one does the actual demolition; even a little skid steer bringing out and stacking the concrete flooring as well as the huge sheers cutting the steel beams into manageable lengths like gigantic bolt cutters. However, some things are intriguing me: what was Mcleans? The outside looks like any 1970's office building but it seemed to be full of aluminium strips and pipes. I wasalso wondering whereabouts in the USA.
It was an ordinary office building in McLean, Virginia, in the western suburbs of Washington, DC. Very close to Tysons Corner, VA. They stripped the internal walls and ceilings before starting work with the excavators. They left behind the metal studs from the walls in big piles on each floor.
Hello people what is the reason why this house is getting nocked down for and also what year did it get abandoned in please.
Hello people what year was this house built in please.
Nice video. Thanks John. What's that big chunk of what looks like concrete sitting on the bow? It looks like a piece of the bridge support, but it's sitting so square and level you wouldn't think it could have fallen there.
It is a chunk of the bridge support. It is nice and square because they cut it with the diamond wire saw you might have seen in the other video. Here is a closeup photo of it: www.seatrade-maritime.com/sites/cet.com/files/Dali-Baltimore-Concrete-Block.jpg
Thanks. I remember seeing the diamond wire saw in your prior video, but didn't understand what it was working on.
Like a woodpecker gonna peck it down.
Oh my lord! I never thought this place would be demolished in a million years! I've spent years working on the kitchen equipment as a service tech from 1995-2016.
White flint mall was such a nice mall. The rest of the mall was demo'd ten or more years ago.
Who still uses AOL in 2024?
Lynn Street. I think that was the old RCA building in Rosslyn VA. I've worked on roof tops doing HVAC in that area but not that particular building. Kinda sad to see it go but it looked out of place with all the new development over the past decade.
Bill! BILL!!! THE NEXT HOUSE. NOT THIS ONE!!
My company deals with ventilation and air conditioning systems 😢 This is such a lot of work and knowledge!
Моя фирма занимается систем вентиляции и кондиционирования 😢 Это такой большой труд и знании !
I’m supposed to be studying.
This looks like one of the most fun jobs in the world
The hose guy is the star of this video
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wohnungen für echte Offenbacher
Why wouldn’t the hvac be craned off the building to be reused?
Must be the hose guys first day.
This operator of the high-reach demo excavator said, "this is coming down TODAY, PERIOD." He was strategic in choosing what to attack to bring large sections down. This was a fun series of demolition videos to watch. Keep up the good work!!
オッペケペーだな!外国だからこの解体通用するけど、日本では通用しないよ(笑)
Interesting. When you say it wouldn't be done in Japan, is that because of the methods used, or because they are demolishing a totally usable building?
So what's next, Mr. John? Love the videos you post!
I have a few odds and ends to edit, and then I will be filming a pair of 2-story office buildings in Herndon, VA.
@@JohnZWetmore Awesome! I know it takes time to go through all the footage and edit so take your time...that's what makes your videos so great for me to watch!
Tropicana hotel demolition in las vegas
Great job as aways, John.
John, I really appreciate your contributions. I am always impressed by the power these machines have. On this site the high reach has made itself redundant. I'm really looking forward to new demolition videos.
3:30 is that an Ammonia refrigeration circuit??
Зачем рушат это здание? оно аварийное?
2:33 here we see the crane in its natural habitat, grazing on air conditioning parts watches it carefully selects the perfect piece
Gotta be the bosses son.
I am impressed at the power of this machine, the force and strength is incredible. I have read that the jaw on the shear puts out 3000 tons of pressure. As stated on the site of the manufacturer.
Yes, you are right. The power of high-pressure hydraulics makes this possible. The high-reach demolition excavator began use abroad, and proved itself as an efficient machine, especially for steel-framed buildings like this one because of the ability to position the shear easily to cut steel. Previously, that steel would have to be cut manually with cutting torches, a far slower method. The Hitachi ZX850 demo machine here has a 140 foot reach, a good sized machine. There are bigger ones out there.
Всегда очень интересно спасибо за интересное видео 😊
poor mall so sad BUT JEEZ ALSO POOR TRUCK 19:17
after watching a previous video about this mall from the proper people after knowing the history about it the first hit on the sign really makes me sad
I'm not saying what he's doing is a bad job. I like watching your videos John. You make a lot of people. Happy to see this. Thanks!
How do you get training to do the job this guy's doing or you just jump in the cab and say it's time to go to work?
Интересное видео.Информативно .
All the Freon inside those coils are gonna be released if it wasn't emptied properly beforehand.
Thanks, John. What a difference between this and the heating plant job. The same rig that fought with getting those beams cut down in that job just slices right through them in this building. The operator picking out the electric motors with that giant shear was impressive.
Will the Dali be fixed and used again as a container ship?
Thanks John!
Nothing like having a back-up alarm back right up in front of your microphone array. 🤣😂 The birds were a nice touch though. The quality of your videos is amazing. Thank you John!
